The letter, transcribed

Nov. 4, 1957 Dear Fran, I have just finished my homework and it is my first chance in weeks to write to you. Things have sure been busy around here. I fell on my head during a game of pitch and catch on Sat. night and landed on my head. I got a slight concussion. Our football team won its last two games of the season to put us in about 4th place. Somebody gave my name to the school paper for hearing "Sputnik" on my shortwave. They spelled my name Zealsdorf instead of Zielsdorf. What do you mean by field drums? Are they like trap drums? I play a ukelele or at least try to. Incidently, I am not writing to Claire. Tony must be mistaken. The "Hunchback of Notre Dame" just came to York and I hope I can get to see it. Friday afternoon I don't have school, so I may see it then. How was the Student Government Dance. Friday night at the Country Club there was a Record Hop. It was supposed to be in costume but when the four of us got there everyone was in Kakies or bermudas so we went home and changed. It turned out to be pretty cool. Can you do the "Stroll"? They do it differently in some schools in York than in others. My French isn't so good but I'll keep writing to you and whatever else you said. Amo tu, Bob
