The letter, transcribed

October 14, 1957 1:15 P.M. Dear Bob, Please excuse me for writing to you on school paper. I know its not the right thing to do. I'm ordinarily in art at this time but the art instructor is sick, so we have a study with Mrs. Partridge who is very nice. I don't have her for any subjects or studies at all. I think she teaches English and Latin. We must be in school at 8:05 but classes don't start until about 8:15. We have 6 periods about 45-50 minutes long. We dismiss at 2:00 P.M. Did I tell you I'm taking field drum lessons? Next year I might play in the school band. Do you play an instrument? Have you heard from Tony lately? Last time I saw him he said you were writing to "Claire" and that he never expected you to write me. Oh well, everythings possible. The Freshman football team is playing Methuen this afternoon at three. Do you go to the movies often? We (the girls) usually go every Friday. If you want to see a "Great Movie" see "An Affair to Remember". You might not like it but your girl most likely would. Another good one is "A Face in the Crowd". I can hardly wait to get our school pictures back. I'll bet mine came out terrible, they usually do. We are going to have class elections tomorrow morning. Our first Student Government dance is around the first of November. I think they might pair the couples off by putting names in a hat. I'm not too sure if I'll be going to Virginia because I haven't heard from my cousin in about two weeks. Je crois de vous. Faire vous amer moi? J'espérer vous faire. S'il vous plaît écrire à moi. Merci, mon chéri Love ya lots, Fran
