Bob to Fran

The letter, transcribed

January 13, 1958 Dear Fran, Tomorrow we start our mid-year exams. I am only worried about Latin but it probably won't be too bad. I went to a party Saturday night and when I came home my clothes were actually wet! Boy, that house was hot. I am going to have a party about a week before I leave. What do you think of "Dee Dee Dina"? I think that and "The Story of my Life" will be big down here. We had our pictures taken at school but I have already given all mine away. But I will have one of my slaves (sisters) take a picture so I can send you one. We went skiing in Vermont over the holidays, or at least started to. We got there and there was no snow so after a couple of days we went to a place in the Pocono Mts. It is a long story but 27 kids and 18 adults went along (all from York) and one family has a place in the Poconos. We all stayed there overnight and then came home. I was hoping to try out my new skis. Tony said you just had 14" of snow. Good for you! It has been cold here but no snow. When the ponds aren't frozen there is an artificial rink that we skate at. Yesterday it was so cold me and a couple of guys went ice fishing. We didn't catch anything 'cause the owner of the pond came down and chased us off. I can't wait to see Bill Zech's face when he reads your letter. My new address, as of Feb. 1, will be 622 E. Lexington Blvd., Whitefish Bay Wisconsin. To answer your questions I am just over 5'7" tall and I got ski pants, 2 crew necks, an oscillator, basketball and other miscellaneous items. I would requote "don't do anything I wouldn't do" but that leaves the field pretty wide open. 73 and 88,* Bob - ask Tony for a translation.
